We designed a flat-field soft X-ray spectrometer to detect $$L$$ X-rays from 1 to 3.5 keV emitted from the CIS absorber consisting of Cu, In, and Se in a CIS solar cell. We invented a wideband multilayered grating, which was coated with an aperiodic Ni/C multilayer on a laminar-type varied-line-spacing grating, to cover the whole energy range at a constant angle of incidence. Since there is no mechanical movement of the grating and a detector, the spectrometer can provide quick and accurate measurements in the 1-3.5 keV range as well as high resolution analysis.

An addition of small amount of boron to steal materials is known well that a it causes a big influence on the characteristic of steel materials, for example, an internal structure and intensity (hardness, toughness), corrosion resistance, heat resistance, and magnetic property. Although the nuclear steel which added boron attracted attention from half century ago, the research on boron steel serves as serious concerns from the standpoints to saving resources and a weight saving in the materials science field as a thin board steel plate used for vehicles etc. recently focusing on the industrial world. However, as compared with the element of others the amount of boron is remarkably small, generally 5-30 ppm, an understanding about the action of boron is not fully understood. To contribute to the X ray emission-spectrochemical-analysis research in the B-K luminescence line (wavelength: 6.76 nm, energy: 183.3 eV) neighborhood, high diffraction efficiency laminar-type diffraction gratings with multilayer film containing diamond-like carbon (DLC) system on the surface newly is under development, and, here, we report the newly designed gratings.

Applications of multilayered gratings to high brightness synchrotron light sources; New horizon of diffraction grating monochromators in the keV region

no journal, ,

The demand for the physical-properties research using powerful light sources, such as synchrotron radiation and soft-X-rays laser light, is increasing. When promoting such research, it is required to develop efficient soft-X-ray spectrometers suitable for absorption, emission, and fluorescence which are appeared in a rage of 1$$sim$$8 keV. This talk describes the possibility of the development of laminar type diffraction gratings which enhance diffraction efficiency remarkably by use of soft-X-ray multilayers instead of single metal layers.

no journal, ,

Chemical states of several elements in the same sample were analyzed by using imaging XAFS technique. Spatial and chemical correlation between two elements were evaluated from the imaging XAFS results. At first, distribution and chemical states of Cs and Fe in soil were investigated in the present work. Strong correlation between quantity of cesium adsorption and valence of iron was found in the analysis. As the next step, we are now extending to chemical states analysis of Sr and Ti in Sr-treat adsorbent.
